Historically, the UIA has held bi-weekly meeting discussions aimed at educating the university community at large about various investment vehicles, and the companies that utilize them. The first half hour of our meetings features a Market Update presented by UIA Executive Board members, followed by informative discussions such as ‘Emerging Markets’, ‘M&A 101’, ‘Inflation and its Impact’, and ‘Technical Analysis Made Simple’. We also focus on core topics that are relevant at the time, such as ‘Credit Markets Overview and Equity Market Discussion’. This Spring, we will have a UIA meeting every Thursday of the month to give prospective members a good taste for what we are all about.
The second portion of our meetings hosts Corporate Speakers who discuss opportunities at their respective companies, and investment topics pertinent to the industry they operate in. We have a wide array of corporate speakers ranging from professionals involved in Equities, Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities, and the many other vehicles that we explore. Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, Investment Houses, Private Equity shops and Trading Firms form the core of our focus. At the end of our meetings, UIA members are given the opportunity to network with these corporate representatives.
